“Intersex” is a general term used for a variety of conditions in which a person is born with a reproductive or sex anatomy that does not
fit the typical definitions of female or male. Despite the fact that at least 1 in 2,000 babies is born with ambiguous sex characteristics,
society keeps on marginalising intersex people as it is based on the binary of female/male. Due to the fact that issues related to
intersex are not well understood, interphobia and discrimination prevail. During the discussion there will be a focus on the meaning of
intersex, the empowerment of human rights advocates and the promotion of laws and policies that protect intersex rights.
