Brazil: Threatened Activist Granted Police Protection

On February 13, 2003, IGLHRC and other activists who have sent letter demanding police protection for Adamor Guedes, president of Amazonian Association of Gays, Lesbians and Transvestites (AAGLT) whose life was under threat, received a letter signed by Dr. Frederico da Silva Veiga, Secretary of Justice and Human Rights, stating that Mr. Guedes had been granted permanent police protection.

For the moment, no further action is needed. We thank all of you who contributed to this effort and we will keep you updated in case anything else happens.
