See our August 30, 2004, Action Alert: "Protest Workplace Discrimination and Demand Effective Implementation of Constitutional Protection Against Discrimination"

On September 3, 2004, the (national) Ombudsman Office contacted Fundacion Amigos por la Vida (FAMIVIDA) about the case of Alex Franco, who was fired from his job on a security firm for being gay. Lawyer Gustavo Molina Conde, from the Ombudsman Office, has become in-charge of the case. On September 9, Mr. Molina Conde, Mr. Franco and Neptali Arias Zambrano (president of FAMIVIDA) were invited to a meeting at the Industrial Relations Commissions to be informed about the request for information on the case that the IRC has submitted to the company that fired Mr. Franco.

Activists are very grateful for the many letters that keep coming in, from many different parts of the world, and hopeful that the case will move forwards in a positive way.
