On October 28, 2021, OutRight’s Acting Executive Director, Maria Sjödin, was quoted by Euronews on the issuing of the first U.S. passport with an ‘X’ Gender Marker. The passport was issued to intersex activist Dana Zzyym, setting a victorious precedent for non-binary, trans and intersex people. “I hope it will become a routine as soon as possible so that anyone who wants can easily access an X on their passport in the US and around the world,” said Sjödin when asked about this historic development.
