Guatemala: Shadow Report on the Situation of Lesbian, Bisexual, Transexual and Transgender Women with Respect to Discrimination

Shadow Report on the Situation of Lesbian, Bisexual, Transexual and Transgender Women with Respect to Discrimination.

Update

In its concluding observations to the government of Guatemala, the CEDAW Committee noted that women often face multiple forms of discrimination for reasons that include sexuality. CEDAW urged that the state implement a strategy to eliminate gender stereotyping related to women in general, and especially discrimination against women on the basis of their ethnicity or sexuality.

The following people and organizations have contributed to the drafting of this report:

  • Nora María Morales, president of the Organization of Bisexual and
    Lesbian Women "Desde nosotras."
  • Donald Byrne Mulet, volunteer for the Guatemalan Community of Sexual Diversity
  • With the support of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) for its English edition and translation (Detrich Peeler, volunteer)
