Celebration of Courage is Outright International’s annual awards and gala. It is an evening of inspiration and community in support of human rights for LGBTIQ people everywhere. Celebration of Courage highlights Outright’s achievements and elevates and advances activists and our allies leading the charge to gain equal rights for LGBTIQ people in their countries and around the world.

Outright’s 27th annual Celebration of Courage will take place Monday, June 5, 2023, from 6 to 10 pm ET.

Program

Outright’s Celebration of Courage audience attracts LGBTIQ individuals and allies who care about rights and equality. Celebration of Courage welcomes some of the best and the brightest from the civil society, media, politics, business, and finance sectors.  These stakeholders are Outright’s top-level supporters and who are among the world’s and New York City’s most influential philanthropists, industry, and civic leaders. Many guests have international connections and are deeply attuned to world affairs.

Guests of Outright’s Celebration of Courage will join a Welcome Reception on a glass-enclosed terrace with an outdoor veranda access overlooking the Hudson River and enjoy a panoramic view of the Garden State, enjoying a picturesque summer sunset. During the Welcome Reception, guests will be able to network and bid online via mobile device on items featured in the event’s Silent Auction.

Transitioning into the Dinner & Program sections of the evening, guests exit the outdoor veranda and enter the dining room. Outright Board Directors and staff will welcome guests to dinner. Following dinner, Outright will present the recipients of The Felipa de Souza Award, The Outstanding Award and The Outspoken Award. In the spirit of giving, during this time, guests will also be invited to participate in a Live Auction and Paddle Raise to raise critical support for Outright’s lifesaving work. Following dinner and the awards, guests will be invited to attend a Closing Reception.

      Auction

A charity auction is a fundraising event in which guests bid to win auction items and packages. The highest bid wins the item, and the host charity receives the proceeds. Auction item donors receive both a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the item donated, and the branding benefits listed below.

Outright’s Celebration of Courage Live and Silent Auctions are highly anticipated annual activations. The Live Auction is run at the event during dinner by a renown auctioneer. The silent auction is hosted online on Givergy.

Hundreds of guests will interact with your corporate brand and item onsite, and thousands of stakeholders will see your brand and item via digital promotions through the event’s multichannel marketing campaign (web, social media, email, event digital program, auction item catalogue, blog). We invite you to participate in the Celebration of Courage Live and Silent Auctions:

        • To qualify for placement in the Live Auction, item must have a fair market value of $7,500 or higher
        • To qualify for the Silent Auction, item must have a fair market value of $350 to $7,499.

        Check back here for updates!

Outright International (“Outright”) is deeply committed to the health and safety of our event attendees and staff. Based on CDC and New York State guidelines at the time of the event, protocols may include contact tracing survey, vaccination, limitations on belongings, proper mask usage, assigned entry times, contactless temperature check, social distancing, and more. By visiting or entering a venue, the holder of a ticket agrees to abide by all COVID-19 safety measures the venue has implemented for guests and employees. Specific health & safety protocols are subject to change but will be clearly communicated to ticket holders in advance of the event. Ticket holders who do not comply with venue protocols will not be admitted.

COVID-19 Warning and Waive of Claims

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. By purchasing a ticket, the holder of the ticket assumes all risks, hazards, and dangers arising from or relating in any way to the risk of contracting COVID-19. Holder of a ticket voluntarily waives any and all claims and potential claims against Outright, the event producer, event participants, performers, venue, and manger, and each of their respective employees, agents, affiliates, officers, directors, owners, vendors and contractors, that arise from or relate in any way to, however caused, the risk of contracting or the actual or alleged contracting of COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, or that arise from or relate in any way to, however caused, the risk of exposure or actual or alleged exposure to a bacteria, virus or other pathogen capable of causing COVID-19 or any other communicable disease or illness, in each case whether the actual or alleged circumstances giving rise to any claim or potential claim occur before, during, or after the event. Holder of a ticket assumes all risks and losses occurring before, during or after an event, including, without limitation, injury by any cause, and releases each released entity (as defined above) from any and all related claims.

            COVID-19 Compliance

All guests aged five (5) and older must have proof they have received either two doses of a two-shot COVID-19 vaccination, or one dose of a single-shot vaccine. Fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear a mask. Please note that full COVID-19 vaccination means the day of your event is at least 14 days after your final vaccine dose.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination needs to be directly from a healthcare provider that performed the vaccination (eg. a proof of vaccination card) or a government-certified app, and can be displayed:

            • Through a physical copy
            • A photo on your smartphone
            • Using a government-certified mobile app, such as the NYS Excelsior App or EU Digital COVID Certificate. We ask that you download and log in to apps in advance of arriving at the venue, so you have access to your proof before arriving onsite.

Please have your proof of vaccination and ID available at registration.

You must be fully vaccinated, which means the day of the event must be at least 14 days after the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or at least 14 days after the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

The documentation needs to be directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination.

Each ticket holder understands and agrees that all tickets purchased are final sale and are not eligible for return, exchange, or transfer. The event will occur rain or shine but in the rare event that the CDC and or New York State prohibits the event because of extremely severe weather, or if an event is postponed due to changes within local and state orders, you will be contacted with an exchange date(s) for the event. Outright will not issue any refunds for health-related concerns, inclement weather, etc., but will work with each individual or institution to identify mutually agreed upon benefits and/or, in unique circumstances left to Outright’s discretion, credits of equal value.

In the event of a canceled event, Outright will issue a refund of the ticket price paid upon request of the ticket purchaser. In no event will delivery charges or any other amounts be refunded. If a refund is issued, it will be issued using the same method of payment that was used to purchase the tickets. Outright will not be liable for travel or any other expenses that the ticket purchaser or anyone else incurs in connection with a canceled or postponed event.

Outright reserves the right, without refund of any amount paid, to refuse admission to, or eject, any person whose conduct management deems disorderly, who uses vulgar or abusive language and/or who fails to comply with venue rules. Breach of terms or rules will terminate your license to attend the event without refund. A ticket is a revocable license and admission may be refused upon refunding the ticket’s face amount. A ticket is not redeemable for cash.

The following policies are subject to change – all attendees will receive updated information in an email communication in advance of your event:

Are there vaccination requirements for guests to attend an event?

On June 5, 2023, Outright will comply with government vaccination mandates for attending indoor events at venues such as Pier 60. The venue and/or Outright may or may not requiring all attendees to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.

What is acceptable proof of vaccination?

If required, I do not want to show proof of vaccination or get a COVID test to attend an event. Can I get a refund?

No. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to provide full vaccination status and agree to Outright’s non-refundable ticket policy.

If I am feeling sick on the day of the event, can I get a refund?

No, Outright cannot offer refunds in the event of sickness.

Will I have to wear a mask to attend events at Pier Sixty?

At this time, fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear a mask while inside the venue. Please note that full COVID-19 vaccination means the day of our event is at least 14 days after your final vaccine dose.
