Global Citizen pulls information from Outright's report "The Global Reach of So-Called Conversion Therapy" and cites Executive Director Jessica Stern in an article about what "conversion therapy" is and what we can do to end it.
"The persistence of so-called conversion therapy is directly related to beliefs about LGBTIQ people and the degree to which we are accepted within our families, our faiths, and societies at large,” Jessica Stern, executive director of Outright International, told Global Citizen. “When homophobia and transphobia prevail, the consequences are stigma, discrimination, and violence.”
