New York, New York - October 09, 2024 - A partnership between Outright International, ILGA World, and the Global Lesbian* Coalition - a network comprising the Asia Feminist LBQ Network, the Central Asian Feminist LBQT Network, the EuroCentralAsian Lesbian* Community (EL*C), the Network of Lesbian and Bisexual Women’s Organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean (LESLAC), and the SADC-LBQ Network - will see the launch of an unprecedented collaborative summary report on global LBQ advocacy and research priorities on October 9, 2024.  This initiative is the result of a consultation that involved the participation, online and in-person, of almost 200 lesbian, bisexual, and queer (LBQ) activists from around the world, making it a significant milestone in global advocacy for LBQ rights and issues.

The consultation has resulted in a comprehensive guidance document that will serve as an essential tool for activists seeking to center LBQ issues in their international advocacy efforts. Outright International, ILGA World, and the Global Lesbian* Coalition initiated a consultative process at the end of 2023, culminating in the document that includes valuable insights and priorities that LBQ activists from all regions identified.

This initiative is not only a testament to the collective efforts of LBQ activists but also will promote unified responses to the alarming rates of misogyny, homophobia, femicide, and discrimination LBQ individuals face globally. It addresses issues such as economic and climate justice, gender-based violence, access to health, and United Nations mechanisms. It also includes a living bibliography of LBQ research where everyone is encouraged to contribute. This initiative aims to foster cross-regional advocacy connections and provide LBQ advocates with the necessary tools to strengthen their international advocacy efforts.

The launch of this document marks a significant step forward in the global fight for LBQ rights and equality. It underscores the commitment of all partners to address the pressing issues that confront LBQ individuals and to create a more inclusive, equitable, and feminist future.
