DOWN WITH LOVE: An Evening of Angry Love Songs

To benefit the International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission

Los Angeles, CA (May 21, 2015) – Silverlake’s Spirit Studio will host the first Los Angeles benefit for the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, an organization that works hand-in-hand with local activists in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to help build a vibrant global movement to confront discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity. A provocative and wildly eclectic evening of “angry” love songs, performed by some of LA’s leading singers and songwriters, the event will feature special appearances by Oscar-winning actor George Chakiris ( “West Side Story”), playwright Robert Patrick (“Kennedy’s Children”), noted television actor Alan Rachins (“LA Law,” “Dharma and Greg”), Lynne Marie Stewart a.k.a “Miss Yvonne” (“Pee-wee’s Playhouse”), and other surprise guests, to be announced, with Shelly Markham and others at the piano. The evening is being produced by Richard Tanner, Hillary Rollins and Brenda Varda, in affiliation with Misery Loves Co.,LLC. Using humor to bring awareness to a serious and timely issue, DOWN WITH LOVE will entertain, inform, titillate and surprise you! To round off the evening, there will be a silent auction featuring, among other items, the works of renowned photographer Ed Dickie ( as well as a no-host bar. DOWN WITH LOVE will be performed at Spirit Studio Silverlake (3711 Evans St., Los Angeles 90027), on Saturday, June 6th, with a 7:30 and 10:00 show.
