This year, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations invited a known LGBT-hate group, Center for Family and Human Rights (C-Fam), to the official US delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
During the CSW, members of the US Mission to the UN claimed that they did not know the extent of C-Fam's homophobia and transphobia before they were appointed to the US delegation. OutRight and our partners decided this was unacceptable and took action!
On Monday 3 April 2017, The International Fellowship of Reconciliation, Ipas, OutRight, and the Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter with a thorough appendix of the many hateful, transphobic, and homophobic things C-Fam and its President, Austin Ruse, has said to US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley.
With this data archive, the US Mission to the UN can no longer reasonably profess that they are unaware of the extent of C-Fam’s hateful rhetoric and actions.
In the letter, we again requested that C-Fam be banned from future US delegations, and we again requested a meeting for progressive NGOs with Ambassador Haley.
Please use this cheat sheet in your own work and distribute it widely to your networks to delegitimize groups such as C-Fam and help us voice clearly that they have no place representing Americans, LGBTIQ folks, women, or anyone, anywhere!
