The risk of backlashes like the one seen in South Korea against the LGBT community will rise as more countries emerge from lockdowns, said Jessica Stern, executive director of OutRight Action International, a New York-based advocacy group accredited with the United Nations.
“This is not going to be the last time this happens,” Ms. Stern said. “We’re going to hear about more gay bars that are blamed for the spread of Covid-19.”
