Volunteer with OutRights for Human Rights Day and OutSummit

Each year in celebration of Human Rights Day, the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) brings human rights activists from around the world together in New York for intensive advocacy at the United Nations and strategic cross-regional discussions. This year, we're coming together Sunday, December 7th to Wednesday, December 10th.

In order to accomplish this work, we depend on the support of volunteers in the New York City area. Volunteers get the unique opportunity to engage with activists from around the world, participate in events and serve as a conduit for enabling delegates to express themselves in their native language.

Volunteers needed:

  • Spanish Interpreter
Provide translation for Latin American delegates at advocacy meetings with UN officials, during cross-regional dialogues and casual events. Native proficiency in Spanish required. Sign Up »

  • Activist City Guide
Accompany activists to meetings and events. Familiarity with navigating Midtown Manhattan, Long Island City, and the Financial District required. Please note not all meetings can accommodate guides, but you are welcome to join us for Human Rights Day at UN HQ on December 10th and cross-regional activities throughout the week. Sign Up »

  • Conference Volunteers
Help us with OutSummit one day conference logistics. Sign Up »

OutRight’s staff is small. Each volunteer is crucial to the success of this annual event. We appreciate your time and skill contributions. We couldn’t do it without you!

OutRight will provide reimbursement for small travel costs on NYC public transit.

To see volunteer shift details, and to sign up, please fill out an interest form: Volunteers. Please note, we’ll hold a mandatory volunteer orientation prior to the week of advocacy at OutRight’s office in the financial district.
