On July 16, I had the pleasure of celebrating two leading advocates for LGBT human rights: Chilean Judge Karen Atala and U.S. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin at IGLHRC's annual gala, A Celebration of Courage.
It was a truly celebratory night. An exuberant crowd of activists, politicians, old and new friends alike shared cheers, tears and standing ovations. We felt the communal joy of the victory in Judge Atala's custody battle in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and Congresswoman Baldwin's LGBT rights advances in the U.S. Congress--historic change that reverberates globally. Read a full account of the evening in The Advocate.
If you were able to attend A Celebration of Courage, thank you very much. If you were unable to attend, we missed you. Either way, please join us now to view videos and photos of the event, and remarks from each of the speakers.
With warmth and solidarity,
Acting Executive Director
